Only 3% of underwear is sustainably sourced. This is a shocking statistic for something we wear every day and cannot buy second hand! Enter Stripe & Stare. After drinks, canapés and bra-shaped biscuits, I had the pleasure of interviewing Katie Lopes (co-founder of Stripe & Stare) and Merve Karakullukcu of TENCEL™. These are the top 3 facts they shared with me and our guests...

I always love to re-wear my clothes. But Stripe & Stare’s co-founder Katie Lopes taught me we should be renewing our knicker drawer every 6-12 months. Unlike clothes, we can’t use circular solutions: there isn’t a rental or rewear market for underwear. The solution? Stripe & Stare’s B Edit can be chucked in your compost and their mainline is 95% biodegradable.

Katie and I delved into how underwear can open up so much of your wardrobe: whether it's a pink body that renders classic trousers more fun or the right knicker that makes you feel confident enough to wear a tight skirt. After all, to quote the saying outside the pop-up, "Nothing great was ever achieved in uncomfortable knickers."

Let's try pivot to sustainably produced pairs. This is a revolution with our smalls that will make a big difference!
